Recommendations for Further Reading

Here are some recipe sources I've found particularly inspiring in the past.

Marilyn Diamond's The American Vegetarian Cookbook from the Fit for Life Kitchen
We refer to this simply as "The Cookbook". A must-have for everyone!

Some favourites:

Simply Heavenly! - The Monastery Vegetarian Cookbook by Abbot George Burke
Get this book! This was a fortuitous find while we took advantage of a local bookstore's comfortable easy chair environment one freezing winter night during an ice storm while we had no power. Proof that making the customer comfortable sells books! Not only did Abbot (Father?) Burke introduce us to the joys of cooking with gluten, but with 1,400 recipes of every type imaginable, he has provided grounds for a lifetime of exploration and experimentation. And his conversational style makes you want to invite him over for dinner and conversation... and maybe he could cook. :)

We've really only just started in on this book - mostly in the gluten section - but it's already yielded some all-time favourites:

The High Road to Health by Lindsay Wagner and Ariane Spade
A great book filled with excellent recipes... what more can one say? My roommate had this book and I know I made quite a few things from it, but since we got our new copy, I can't really remember what they were... time to rediscover!

Some favourites: (I promise this isn't just a dessert cookbook - we've just been kind of stuck on Simply Heavenly's savoury recipes since getting it)

The Vegetarian Resource Group's Vegan Handbook
More than just a cookbook, this is also a good read, with many articles on matters pertaining to veganism. The recipes are often simple, but offer a great basis for experimentation.

Some favourites:

The Vegan Chef
She's really good.

The Veggies Unite! Recipe Directory
The definitive online resource for vegan recipes and meal ideas! Be careful, you can spend a few hours browsing before you realise what's happened!
